Brother John W. Ali served the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as National Secretary of the Nation of Islam from 1960 to 1970, by his own record. He helped compile Message to the Blackman in America, The Fall of America, How to Eat to Live, and the transcription of the 1958 Saviour’s Day address that became Birth of a Saviour.

Esquire magazine, October 1964. Charles de Gaulle points to the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad among the world’s condemned figures. Brother John W. Ali brought a copy of the magazine to the Messenger, who placed it in the pocket of His jacket and, in Brother John W. Ali’s words, “kept it with him all the time.”
